So, as of today, I am 21 weeks along! We had a Dr. appointment on Wednesday, August 11th to have the big 20 week ultrasound. Kind of funny side note: that exact date and day of the week, 11 years ago, I entered the MTC. Kind of funny and interesting, I thought. Anyway, moving right along, ha ha! The baby looks great! The Dr. was very pleased, happy, and excited about the growth of the baby so far, everything (baby, placenta, etc.) are in great positioning! So, was so relieved and excited to see and hear that!!!! As with all of our pregnancies, we didn't find out the sex of the baby. The technician said she knew but, she was EXCELLENT about not letting on one way or the other! She wouldn't even tell my Dr. the sex of the baby. It was so fun seeing the baby move all over the place. Mike was albe to come to this appointment, which was special for us both! There were some fun moments where a couple times our baby was holding onto the ambilical cord, like it was holding on for dear life! It loved putting he/she's hands into a fist, up by his/her face, as if getting ready to box or fight someone! A couple times, while we were looking at the top of the head at the brain, you could see fingers, almost as if strumming the top of his/her head, like he/she was bored or something! Kind of funny! So, it looks like we'll be scheduling the c-section on December 17th, unless something else comes into play. My Dr. gave us a choice of the 17th, 18th, or 19th. The 18th and 19th are a Saturday and Sunday. Mike didn't want our Dr. to have to work on a Saturday or Sunday if he doesn't have to and we'd like to have the baby as far away from Christmas as we can so, we shall see. As far as changes in my body that I've noticed, here is a list:
- After explaining some symptoms I've been having the Dr. came to the conclusion that I have pregnancy onset carpal tunnel syndrome. He said that once in a while it happens with women because of the amount of water they retain. Good news: it should go away after the baby is born. Bad news: I'm barely half way along and it will only get much worse. So, for now he would like me to wear a brace to bed at night, to prevent me from sleeping with my hand in a claw or curled position. If it gets too much worse he'll have me start wearing a heavier brace all day.
- The Dr. examined me, because I've been having some extreme pain on the side of my chest, just below my armpit. Come to find out, my ribs are jabbing me on the side quite badly. It just comes from my body making room for the baby. Good news, sort of: If it gets too bad he can give me shot that will numb the pain. Bad news: Again, I'm only 1/2 way and it could get a lot worse.
- They discovered through my blood tests that I'm no longer immune to German Measles. They were surprised that no one caught it in my other pregnancies. So, after the baby is born they'll give me a booster for it and I'll be immune once again.
- My baby bump is growing and I love it! We measured me to compare how big I am now to my other pregnancies. Width-wise I'm still about the same as my others. HOWEVER...as far as how far my bump is sticking out.....I'm only one inch less than when I was 9 months will Rylie!!!!!!!!
- I feel the baby move quite frequently, especially at night! The last couple of days have been so fun! I finally have gotten to the point where I can put my hand on my baby bump, and can feel baby either kick or punch my hand! So fun!!!!!! Mike likes this point too!
- The all-day sickness is getting better! I still have my moments but, there are not as many of them! Happy days are here once again, almost! Ha ha!
