Tonight, Mike and I went on our first date since this quarter ended in school for Mike. It was so nice to go out, just the two of us, and be so relaxed! Mike had no worries on his mind and it was great to spend some time with just him. First, we went to dinner at Applebee's. We had the spinach-artichoke dip for an appetizer. YUMMY!!!! Then Mike had a bacon cheeseburger and I had the sirloin steak topped w/ parmesan & seasoned shrimp. It was to die for! I was stuffed to the brim but it was well worth it. We then went to the opening night of "Rocky Balboa". We both love Rocky and were very excited to see it! It was a great movie to see! There were even some die-hard Rocky fans w/ posters, capes, and shirts to support the movie! We both agreed it was worth it! Definitely a pump-you-up, feel-good movie!!!Wednesday, December 20, 2006

POTTER PARK ZOO

While Mike's sister, Shannon, was here to visit we made a trip to the Potter Park Zoo right here in Lansing. We lucked out because we went during "off season" so we didn't have to pay to park or to get into the zoo! Woo Hoo!!! We had a great time! Although a lot of the animals were put away because it's "Winter Season" at the zoo we were still able to see a lot of animals. Connor especially loved the Petting Zoo part of the Zoo. He also enjoyed just running free! We only saw about 6 people there, besides us, so it was fun just letting him go wherever he wanted.Saturday, December 02, 2006
IT'S A BIRD! IT'S A PLANE! IT'S SUPERMAN!!!
Connor, Allie & Laura at the Clubhouse Halloween Party
I know that these pictures are being posted about a month late. I just got my film developed (I'm still an old-timer using a camera that requires film, used by the pioneers) this last week. I couldn't resist posting them because Connor looks so adorable as Superman!!!! In the first 2 pictures we tried spray painting his hair black. However, it became black dust and anything Connor came into contact with was soon plastered by this black dust. This included Connor's fingers, nose, and cheeks. I had to deep-clean my bathroom because it looked HORRIBLE!!! So, we opted to wash his hair and just leave him a brown-headed Superman!

Do As I'm Doing! Follow, Follow Me!!!

I've been doing so much coloring and cutting so much hair lately that Connor has picked up on what I'm doing and has begun copying everything I do. If you are ever on the floor or over at our house to visit you take the chance that Connor will end up styling your hair for you! He loves it. He also loves to style his own hair. It frustrates me because I'll have his hair combed all nice and then he puts his hands up to his hair and rubs away. Connor has also watched me put gel in my hair many times. So, anytime he has something gel-like in his hands it will immediently go into his hair!!!My Favorite Things

HAPPY OPENING DAY OF DEER HUNT!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, October 21, 2006, is the opening day of the rifle, deer hunt in Utah. Unfortunately we're not able to be there this year to join in the kill. At least we can look at pictures, right? The pictures above were taken in October 2001. My family goes hunting on our farm in Dry Lake, which is in Wellsville Canyon. It's quite the experience to go hunting with our family. After going one time with my family Mike has said that we don't give the deer a chance at all. Let me see if I can explain how it works. The hunters carrying rifles will go up quite early, around 4 or 5am while it is still dark. Previous to going up they have already chosen their sitting spots. Then, right before first light the brushers will go up and get in position as well. For those of you not familiar with the term "brushers", I can explain. The brushers walk straight through the trees, in a straight line, making lots of noise, and brush or push all the deer to the hunters. When all the brushers are in position, starting from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain, we then start to walk and make sure we're in a straight line as if we're forming a barrier for the deer not to get out. We do this all morning. At lunch time we all meet at the same spot and have lunch together and of course we talk about our stories of the day. Then, after eating lunch the brushers who want to hunt will switch with the hunters who sat last time. Then we'll do it all over again on a different mountain. We go back and forth all day until it's too dark to do it anymore. I love the deer hunt!!! I love walking around in the moutains all day long with no worries, except that of worrying if I'll get shot or attacked by a deer (ha ha!!!). I also love the thrill of hearing gun shots echo all over the canyon and wonder if someone shot a deer or not. I love walking around and seeing dots of orange all over and wondering who it is hunting. Unfortunate for me, fortunate for everyone else, I don't carry a gun. The reason being is because we have a rule in our family. If you kill the deer you have to clean it and eat it. I can kill the deer and eat it just fine. HOWEVER....I cannot clean the deer. It makes me physically ill!!! Ohhhh, I'm so sad I'm not hunting right now!!! Thursday, October 19, 2006

Artists In The Making!!!!

Scream(Mike's pumpkin), Cat (Megan's Pumpkin), One-eyed Jack (Brad's Pumpkin)

For a little pre-Halloween fun we got together with the Call's and the Charles' for some carving fun!!!! Ok, so we used stencils but for those who were carving...man! What a lot of detailing it was!!! I'm glad I was in charge of handling Connor. Although, at the above picture w/ Brad I don't look like the most responsible parent letting him be so close to a knife. When they were cleaning out the pumpkins it reminded me a little of when a deer is gutted. Can you tell deer hunting is in the air? Wednesday, October 11, 2006

You're Never Far Apart When Holding Hands!!!!
So, our blog is a liar! Ha ha!!! For some reason it posted my last blog for October 3rd. Our anniversay is on October 4th (yesterday). We had a great time!!! Our friends, Brad & Diana, willingly came to our apartment and watched Connor for us. Off we went on our own! We haven't been on a date for a very long time!!! I was like a giddy school girl all day. I was so excited!!!! We had reservations at PF Chang's first. Mike had the Orange Peel chicken. It was perfect for him because he loves garlic in his food and this had a lot of garlic in it. I ordered the classis Mongolian Beef. It was yummy, as usual!!!! We got full really fast! After that we went to Sam's Club and wandered around (how romantical). After that we went to the even infamous, delicious Maggie Moo's. I got cheesecake with strawberries mixed in. Mike had cotton candy with gummie bears mixed in. Yummy to our tummies! It was so cold that we ate it in the store. After that we wandered around in The Children's Place, Gap Kids, Yankee Candle (got some more yummy scented tarts), and Williams Sonoma. After that we went and saw the movie "The Guardian" with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher! It was a really good drama! I enjoyed it a lot!!! We had a great time and had so much fun just being with each other.
