So Long, Farewell.....!!!!
On Sunday, October 1st, our Stake announced boundary changes of all the wards and branches. We met at the Stake Center to find out what was happening. It felt like I was on my mission again, awaiting the call to see where I was being transferred to. Sure enough, the hunch I was having was right. They completely dissolved the Capitol Ward. It will be weird not having that ward in our Stake. About 98% of the ward was put into the boundaries of the Lansing Ward. The other 2% (about 5 or 6 families) was put into the Portland Branch. We are one of the families that will now be going to the Portland Branch. Instead of driving 15 minutes to church we'll be driving around 25 minutes to church. The church is a little different looking too. It appears to look like a Baptist church. I'm curious to know the story behind that.
The Branch President is also newly called on Sunday. I've heard great things about him and he and his wife look very, very nice!!! I am excited for the changes this will bring. However, I have very mixed emotions. I am sad to leave all of my friends that I have made in the Capitol Ward. We all know how it usually goes that when boundaries change then so do the friends. I hope that is not the case this time! I am grateful that some friends are going along with us. I did find out one perk to the ward change! I was to be called as the new YW's President in the Capitol Ward. Looks like I dodged the bullet on that calling, for now anyway.
